Class 6 is a mixed Year 1/2 class taught by Miss Wilkinson and supported by Miss Vardy.

Hello everyone! Welcome to Class 6! I am looking forward to having a wonderful year with you all.

On this page you will find key information about the year ahead. Please check this page regularly for any changes or updates.

Important Dates
Thursday 18th January – Visit from Nissan (in school)
Tuesday 30th January – Visit from ScienceBods (in school)

Don't Forget!

School day for KS1 children commences at 8:45am and finishes at 3:15pm.

Children in Class 6 will be collected by a member of staff from the main gate (buzzer) at 8:45am and taken to their classroom.

During pick up you can collect your child from our classroom fire door. Gates will open at 3:10pm for pickup at 3:15pm. If you need to collect your child any earlier you must report to the office.

All pupils are entitled to milk, either free or paid, however paid milk MUST be paid on Parent Pay. Please see the school office if you need help using Parent Pay.

Reading

Reading is a hugely important part of our curriculum, and we ask that you aim to read with your child at least 3 times per week (and sign their school reading diaries). Children who have read to an adult 3 times in a week will receive a sticker or stamp on their own personal reading bookmark. Once they fill their bookmark they will receive a special reward!

PE

P.E. for Class 6 in the Spring term will be on a Friday afternoon where we will have the wonderful Miss Skiggs for dance.

On P.E. Days, children will need to bring the correct P.E. kit. This should be kept on their pegs for the half term in case of any timetable changes:

      • Plain white t-shirt (with or without school logo)
      • Navy or black jogging bottoms/leggings or shorts
      • Black or white trainers
      • School hoodie or plain navy hooded top (optional)

Mental Arithmetic

In Class 6 we will complete daily Core Maths sessions. These may include recapping methods taught in maths, recalling number bonds, or times tables. Children are able to practise these skills at home using TopMarks Maths Games or Times Table Rockstars.

If your child needs a log in for the latter, please get in touch.

Termly Topics

Our topics for the Spring 1 half term are as follows:

Literacy and Guided Reading: Cinderella
Maths: Money, Multiplication and Division
Dimensions: Zero to Hero and Royal Patrons
R.E: Why is the Bible special to Christians?
PE: Dance
PSHE: Health and Hygeine

Please see our Curriculum pages for each year group’s long term planning.

ClassDojo

This year we will be continuing to Class Dojo school-wide as a means of maintaining parent communication. I will be posting regular updates to our Class Story throughout the year as well as reminders for parents and pupils.

I’m looking forward to a wonderful year!
