KS2 enjoyed a fabulous afternoon on Monday for sports day. They took part in plenty of team games in their house colours before watching or taking part in the individual races. It was a very close leaderboard, but the overall winner for KS2 was Emerald House – well done Emerald!
Some of our year 5/6’s recently attended the South Tyneside Quadkids tournament at Monkton stadium. They were truly amazing! We’ve just got the results back and one if our teams has qualified for the regional finals. Well done everyone!
Yesterday, 27th June, our rounders team took part in a rounders competition at Boldon School. Our two teams competed very well and played some great rounders. The children behaved very well and really enjoyed themselves. We eventually finished fourth – a great achievement. Well done everybody.
Year 6 have been learning a new skill in Rugby this half term – tackling. As always, a huge thank you to John Pickering for his wonderful coaching sessions, the children LOVE it!
KS2 children had a fantastic experience of an African dance workshop on Tuesday. It was a fun, engaging and memorable essential learning experience that allowed the children to have a broad understanding of cultural diversity.
The workshops were delivered by the fantastic Tunde Olasupo, who taught them some of the different traditional African dance moves native to this wonderfully vibrant and diverse culture.
Class 14 throughly enjoy our weekly rugby sessions with our amazing rugby coach, John. We have learned so much from his training and enthusiastically take part in practice tag rugby matches.
During October the Year 5/6 Football side got back up and running. They’ve played three matches in the Newton League held at Boldon School. Coached this year by Mr Houmark and Miss Fraser.
A squad of 14 children were selected to attend the training group which has recently finished for the winter but will return in February time.
On Tuesday 21st September, all children from Years 1-6 came to school in their sports clothes to recognise National Fitness Day. We were especially lucky to have an excellent personal trainer volunteer their time to come in and compete a short session with every year group.
During their PT session, the children had to rotate around 4 different exercise stations around the hall where they had to complete different exercises such as star jumps, sit ups, ladder runs and hurdles – all activities designed to get the blood pumping!
Take a look at the fun we had!

This year, being a little bit different, we couldn’t gather in our key stages to compete in sports day. We did however, all take to the tracks to compete in our bubbles.
There were various games competed in house colours including balancing a bat on a ball, bean bag shuttle, and the sack race!
It was such good fun for all year groups – everyone had a tremendous time!
Have a look below at some short videos of each year group enjoying their turn on the tracks.
